For those of us who enjoy the cosiness and hypnotic nature of a natural fire but haven’t got the opportunity to have a real fire in our homes, the Comfort Zone Mini Fireplace CZFP1 is a great alternative.
Comfort Zone fireplace heaters, having been around now for around 10 years, have become a popular choice in the space heater market. The Comfort Zone Mini Fireplace CZFP1 is an attractive stand-alone real flame effect mini fireplace.
Construction
This Comfort Zone electric fireplace uses a ceramic element combined with a fan to provide its heating capability. The fan ensures a wide heat dispersion in the surrounding environment.This mini fireplace, really as many, standing 15 inches tall by 11 ½ inches wide and eight inches deep.
All in all it weighs 6.6 pounds which makes it eminently portable, easily moved around your home to provide heat wherever it’s needed most.
This portable space heater comes in an attractive red metallic effect casing, with a glass fronted door looking into flame effect fire. Whilst the flames do not look exactly realistic, they do work from an aesthetic point of view by providing some focal point when looking at this portable space heater.
Good Points
This Comfort Zone Mini Fireplace CZFP1 has the following benefits:
- Attractive simulated flame – the simulated flame gives the fire a cosy look, and effectively provides something more interesting to look at than you get in a typical portable space heater casing. The similar to flame can be turned off if so desired.
- Ceramic heating – the ceramic heating element together with the fan is able to provide two different levels of heating capability, high and low. The fan ensures that the heat gets distributed evenly throughout the room.
- Safety – the Comfort Zone Mini Fireplace CZFP1 comes with a safety cut-off switch in the event that the unit becomes overheated, and an additional cut-off capability should this portable space heater be tipped over for whatever reason.

Points to Note
- Design - The red metallic effect casing is not everybody’s preferred colour. We would have preferred it if the portable fireplace had been presented as though it were a cast iron stove, rather than the rather garishly coloured red casing. But many would disagree with us.
- Basic Controls - The Comfort Zone Mini Fireplace CZFP1 has fairly basic controls with no thermostatic control, or incorporated timer to save money when heating your home.
Verdict
The Comfort Zone Mini Fireplace CZFP1 is unlikely to ever be mistaken for a real fire, however it is reasonably attractive portable space heater that is perfectly capable of heating most small to medium-size rooms in most people’s homes. It is small enough and light enough to be easily moved around in order to provide heat in the most appropriate areas of your home, and its compact shape ensures that in the event that you do not want it on display it is easily stored away.
This Comfort Zone mini fireplace is available on Amazon at a very reasonable price, around $40 mark (check here for the latest price). At this price we consider it to be reasonable value for money, and although this is essentially a relatively basic portable space heater many people will be attracted to the simulated flame and the attractive casing. In our view, the lack of thermostatic control means that there are other portable space heaters on the market which we believe represent better value for money.
